The Delhi police have busted two printing presses involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit NCERT textbooks. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the case, an officer said on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Sumit, 35, a resident of North Chhajjupur in Shahdara; Vinod Jain, 65, a resident of Preet Vihar; and Kanishq, 32, a resident of Yamuna Vihar. The Delhi police recovered over 44,000 pirated books worth ₹2 crore, the officer said. The police conducted a raid on a godown in Daryaganj and confiscated 12,755 counterfeit books. An FIR was registered under Section 318(4) (creation/alteration of valuable security) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and under relevant sections of the Copyright Act, 1957, the officer said. Factory raided In a separate raid on a factory in Jawli village in Ghaziabad’s Loni, the police seized 32,107 fake NCERT textbooks. A probe is under way to trace the supply chain and nab the other accused.
