Nearly 4,000 pilgrims who participated in the two-day annual St. Antony’s Church festival held in Katchatheevu islet returned to Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district on Saturday. They reached the Rameswaram fishing jetty around 4 p.m.

On arrival, the pilgrims were screened by the authorities. As many as 3,996 pilgrims from India had applied to participate in the annual Church festival. They set sail on 90 mechanised and 26 country boats after a thorough check by authorities. The pilgrims were provided with life jackets and were instructed to follow the guidelines.
