Siruthuli, in partnership with Titan Company Limited and the district administration, launched phase II of the Masaorambu stream rejuvenation project in Thondamuthur block on Wednesday.

Masaorambu stream is one of the main tributaries of the river Noyyal that plays a key role in supporting agriculture and groundwater resources in the area. Phase I of the project included cleaning and desilting a 5.63 km stretch of the stream. Seven check dams were built, leading to an increase in water storage by about 100 million liters, said a release from Siruthuli.

It said that activities such as cleaning and desilting of another 1.5 km upstream and the construction of three check dams to improve water retention and groundwater recharge will be carried out in phase II in Mathvarayapuram panchayat.

Sridhar N.E., Chief Sustainability Officer; Venugopal, Divisional Manager; Chandar Sampath, Coimbatore Factory Head; Srikanth, Divisional Manager (Sustainability); and Vinod, Senior Manager (Sustainability) were present from Titan Company Limited, along with Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee, Siruthuli; Apex Body members of Siruthuli; farmers from the surrounding villages and local stakeholders.
