Thoothukudi MP and Deputy General Secretary of DMK Kanimozhi Karunanidhi said that while people are not even turning back to look at the election manifestos of other parties, they are celebrating the DMK’s manifesto.

Addressing the media, following the inauguration of the election office of Secular Progressive Alliance in Thoothukudi, she said that her campaign for the DMK would begin on Thursday at Keeladi, symbolising the culture and civilisation of Tamils. She added that Minister Geetha Jeevan, who has been announced as DMK candidate for Thoothukudi constituency, is capable of serving people effectively and has brought pride to the chief minister through her work.

Ms. Kanimozhi further stated that the DMK government has functioned as a people-centric administration that uplifts women and enables youth to plan their future. It has also attracted various industrial investments and created employment opportunities.

She highlighted that while people do not revisit election manifesto of other parties, the DMK’s manifesto is being celebrated because people trust that party will fulfil its promises. She expressed confidence that Chief Minister M. K. Stalin will form the government again and that further development will be brought to Thoothukudi.

Ms. Kanimozhi also noted that while candidates are changed, differences of opinion and disappointment may arise, and alliance discussion may create controversies. However, she emphasised that all are united by ideology and will work together towards victory.

On law and order, she stated that the percentage of cases registered in Tamil Nadu is lower than the national average. While not denying the occurrence of crimes, she said that swift action is taken to ensure justice for victims.

Following the event Ms. Kanimozhi and Minister Geetha Jeevan paid floral tributes to the statue of late chief minister K. Karunanidhi.
