Stating that the series of atrocities against the minority Hindus in Bangladesh is deeply disturbing, Udupi Pejawar Mutt Seer Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha on Wednesday, January 7, urged the Central government to take immediate steps to protect the interests of Hindus in the neighbouring country.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sri Vishwaprasanna, who is also the trustee of Sri Ram Janmabhoom Tirth Kshetra Trust, said, “Hindus have always worked for the welfare of the entire world, and they never used violence as a weapon to achieve self-rule over others.”

“We have been following the principles of peaceful coexistence beyond our borders. But in one of our own neighbouring countries, violence is being unleashed against Hindus that has deeply saddened the society,” Sri Vishwaprasanna said.

Meanwhile, the Seer urged people in the country to light a separate lamp in their homes, temples and mutts along with the daily lamp to pray for an end to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. They should also pray for peace and tranquillity across the World, Sri Vishwaprasanna said.
