Passengers disappointed as Railways continues to operate Mettupalayam-Coimbatore MEMU train with eight cars

Disappointment of commuters from Mettupalayam, Karamadai and Thudiyalur over operation of the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam MEMU express with eight cars continued for the second day on Tuesday.

As the Southern Railway had, earlier this month, announced augmentation of the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam-Coimbatore MEMU passenger trains with 12 cars with effect from February 23, there was eager anticipation among the commuters.

According to an order issued on February 12 by the Southern Railway, the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam-Coimbatore MEMU train services (66613/14 and 66617/18) and Mettupalayam-Podanur Junction-Mettupalayam MEMU Train services (66611/12, 66615/16, and 66619/20) will be operated with 12 cars.
