A solution to the struggle by passengers travelling in the overcrowded Mettupalayam-Coimbatore MEMU train seems elusive. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement The patience of passengers travelling in claustrophobic conditions in eight coaches of the Mettupalayam-Coimbatore MEMU train appears to be wearing thin, over the purported delay by the Railways to operate the services with 12 compartments. The Railways had announced that certain train services in the sector will be operated with the additional coaches from February 23. Passenger crowd in the train keeps rising for travel during the peak hours. According to a tentative assessment, not less than 3,000 passengers travel by the eight compartments. Passengers travelling on the train footboard could be seen clinging precariously.
