The Air Intelligence Unit of the Hyderabad Customs arrested a passenger and seized 12.95 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic ganja valued at about ₹12.95 crore at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), foiling a major international drug smuggling attempt. Following a tip-off, the passenger was intercepted on arrival from Bangkok on Air Asia flight FD 118 at around 11.12 p.m. on January 8. On examining the checked-in baggage, customs officers recovered 13 air-tight sealed plastic packets containing hydroponic ganja. The accused was arrested under the relevant provisions of the law and has been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigations are in progress to identify other conspirators.
