Rumours about a possible fuel shortage triggered panic buying among motorists in parts of the district on Friday, prompting many vehicle users to purchase petrol and diesel in cans and containers.

At several fuel stations, motorists arrived carrying plastic cans and other containers, fearing that supplies might run out in the coming days. The sudden rush led to long queues at a few outlets, where customers reportedly waited for over 30 minutes to refill their vehicles and storage containers.
