HYDERABAD

The Ministry of Jal Shakti, on Friday, announced the formation of a committee headed by the Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC), chairpersons of the Godavari and Krishna River Water Management Boards, representatives of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments and other top officials, to deliberate upon key issues concerning water management between the two Telugu States.

The committee will also have AP’s Special Chief Secretary (Water Resources department), Adviser of Water Resources department, Irrigation engineer-in-chief, chief engineer of water resources; from the Telangana side, Adviser to Government on irrigation and water resources, Principal Secretary (Irrigation & CAD department), Special Secretary (Irrigation & CAD department) and Irrigation EnC. Chief Engineers of CWC and NWDA – National Water Development Agency are the other members.

The committee will address key issues concerning water management in a comprehensive and technical manner and study the outstanding concerns and suggest viable solutions to ensure equitable and efficient water sharing. It is mandated to submit its report within three months, said an official release.
