The division serves as a vital rail corridor in three southern States — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, while a major portion of freight loading takes place in New Mangalore Port. According to officials, the record freight loading figures are not merely a railway statistic; they are a direct reflection of the industrial activity, agricultural output, and infrastructure growth taking place across the region.
