The initiative reflects the division’s continued efforts to augment non-fare revenue while simultaneously upgrading passenger amenities and services across key stations. | Photo Credit: File photo The Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has awarded 23 passenger amenity assets through an e-auction in January 2026, securing a total contract value of ₹15.26 crore across 12 stations, including nine Amrit Bharat stations. A release here stated that the e-auction covered a range of revenue-generating passenger facilities aimed at enhancing commuter convenience and improving station infrastructure. The awarded amenities include battery-operated cars at Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Shoranur junctions to facilitate easy movement of differently abled and elderly passengers; mobile-charging kiosks at Kozhikode, Parpanangadi, Payyanur, Kannur, and Kasaragod junctions, enabling passengers to recharge their mobile phones directly on platforms; ROMT-mode (Renovate, Operate, Maintain & Transfer) retiring rooms, dormitories and sleeping pods at Kannur Junction; parking area at Kozhikode Junction; two-wheeler wrapping facility at Palakkad Junction to assist passengers in packing bikes and other luggage for transport; catering stalls at Kannur and Mangaluru junctions; multipurpose stalls at Palakkad, Tanur and Parpanangadi junctions; cloakroom at Thalassery junction; maintenance and manning of pay and use toilets at Tirur, Mangaluru Central, and Pollachi junctions; and a brand promotional kiosk at Payyanur Junction.
