The Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has expanded the Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System (MUTS) across more halt stations in January, improving passenger convenience. MUTS has been introduced at four additional halt stations, and will become operational at two more in the first week of February, taking the total number of MUTS-enabled halt stations in the division to ten. With this, Palakkad Division now ranks first in Southern Railway for MUTS coverage at halt stations. The system has been implemented at Pattikkad, Tuvvur, Vellayil, Kulukkallur, Elimala, Chandera, Cherukara, Melattur, Anamalai Road and Iringal. MUTS uses a smartphone paired with a Bluetooth thermal printer to issue tickets instantly, replacing the earlier practice of printing tickets at serving stations and transporting them to halt stations.
