Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Monday (March 9, 2026) stated that over 9,000 bicycles have been distributed to government school students so far with the support of donors such as NREDCAP, SEIL Energy India Limited, and Assist NGO. The Minister distributed bicycles to 364 students from Bommanampadu, Shankarappadu, and Dharmavaram High Schools in Addanki Constituency.

He also inaugurated several development works in Prakasam district, including CC roads and drainage side canals constructed at a cost of ₹20 lakh in Bommanampadu village, a safe drinking water scheme established at a cost of ₹35 lakh, internal CC roads and side drainage canals constructed at ₹30 lakh in Dharmavaram village.

Addressing the students after distributing bicycles in Bommanampadu, the Minister said that additional development works and tar roads worth ₹6 crore will soon be undertaken in the village. He further stated that bicycles would be distributed to all remaining Class 10 students within the next two to three days.

“The donors from Ongole, inspired by the bicycle distribution initiative in Addanki, have contributed ₹12 lakh to establish safe drinking water plants in eight schools. With the cooperation of donors, the government schools can be developed on par with private institutions,” he said, thanking the organisations for supporting the bicycle distribution programme.

In SPSR Nellore district, Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy along with SEIL Energy India Limited CEO Janmejaya Mahapatra, handed over 576 bicycles to girl students at Podalakuru ZP High School. With the help of SEIL, 1,841 bicycles were given to girls of classes 8 and 9 in the first phase, and the remaining children will be provided in the second phase, he said.

Mr. Mahapatra said, “This initiative is a small step towards empowering the future generation of our nation. We believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunities and improving livelihoods and we are committed to supporting our communities in every way possible. We are grateful to our stakeholders for their continued support in making a positive impact in the lives of the poor.”
