As many as 81,001 students will appear for the Intermediate public examinations in Visakhapatnam district from February 23 to March 24. Of them, 40,165 are first year students and 40,836 are second year students. The examinations for both years will be held on alternate days from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The district administration has finalised 85 centres across the district for the smooth conduct of the examinations.

Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari on Friday reviewed the arrangements with officials of various departments. She directed them to ensure foolproof measures for the smooth and transparent conduct of the Intermediate theory examinations and asked them to remain vigilant.

She ordered tight security at all centres and the enforcement of Section 144 in and around the examination premises. Each centre should have a Chief Superintendent and a sitting squad. Medical camps should be set up at every centre. Adequate drinking water, proper sanitation, uninterrupted power supply and high speed internet connectivity must be ensured, she said. APSRTC authorities were advised to run additional buses to help students reach their centres on time. Officials of the Education Department were instructed to inspect the centres in advance and confirm that all required facilities are in place.

Officials of the Board of Intermediate Education informed that the practical examinations for vocational courses were conducted smoothly from January 27 to February 10, while practical examinations for general courses were held from February 1 to February 10. The Ethics and Human Values examination was conducted on January 21 and the Environmental Education examination on January 23.

Officials from the Education, Medical and Health, APSRTC, APEPDCL, Police and Revenue departments attended the meeting.
