Gutkha products confiscated in multiple enforcement operations being destroyed by the police in Cuddalore district on Monday. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT The Cuddalore district police destroyed over 5,300 kg of gutkha products that had been seized in various cases across the district on Monday. Following the orders of Cuddalore Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, and as part of continuous action to curb smuggling and use of gutkha products, the police with permission from the court, destroyed a total of 5,323kg of the contraband. The gutkha products had been confiscated in multiple enforcement operations and during vehicle checks within the limits of the seven police sub-divisions in Cuddalore district. The disposal process was conducted after strictly following legal and environmental norms at a location in the district. The entire process was supervised by Mr. Jeyakumar and officials from the Food Safety and Revenue Departments.
