More than 5,000 passengers have booked their seats in the Pongal special bus services of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Kumbakonam Division, to be operated from Kumbakonam to Chennai on January 18 and 19. According to an official release, the Corporation will run over 100 special buses in addition to the regular services to Kalaignar Karunanidhi Birth Centenary Terminus at Kilambakkam and the mofussil bus terminus at Madhavaram, on the outskirts of Chennai on Sunday and Monday. The special buses scheduled to leave Kumbakonam from 6 p.m. to midnight on these two days will depart from the Kumbakonam Town Bus terminus instead of the mofussil bus terminus, the release added.
