A total of 38,128 cases are pending in 22 courts of Udupi District as on March 13, which is a day prior to National Lok Adalat to be held on March 14. As per information available on the National Judicial Data Grid, of the 38,128 cases, 22,147 were criminal cases, while the remaining 15,981 were civil cases. The oldest case was the partition suit of January 1998 pending in the court of Principal Senior Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Udupi.
