The State has achieved nearly 90% coverage in basic infrastructure, including education and road facilities. Referring to economic performance, the Minister said Tamil Nadu recorded 11.19% growth rate, as per Union Government rankings, and credited leaders such as Periyar, M. He also recalled the launch of the State-level “Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil” scheme, under which 10 lakh laptops are being distributed to college students. In Salem district, 5,609 laptops have been allocated in the first phase. The laptops would enhance digital skills, promote entrepreneurship and support research, he said.
