RAJU The city police have refunded ₹4.98 crore to citizens who lost money to cyber frauds so far this year. With this, the police have achieved a milestone by recovering and returning the highest amount of money to cyber-fraud victims in the State, said Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi. Addressing the media in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, Mr Bagchi said that since 2019, the police have refunded ₹22.47 crore to 1,240 victims who had lost money to cyber frauds. He noted that more than ₹20 crore of this amount has been refunded since 2024.
