Public representatives, officials, volunteers and local residents participated in the meetings. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement A community consultation meeting on the theme ‘Our Toilet, Our Responsibility’ was held on Sunday (February 8, 2026), at 437 locations where the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has established its toilet facilities. According to a press release, the consultations brought together residents from areas where the facilities are located to discuss public rights and responsibilities related to the use, upkeep, and protection of the toilets. Participants were briefed on safety and operational features, including surveillance cameras installed outside the facilities, handwashing arrangements, mirrors, sanitation charts for cleaning staff and supervisors, and mechanisms for carrying out minor and major repairs. Issues such as measures to prevent pollution in urinals, cleaning practices, rotational deployment of sanitation workers, ventilation, and periodic testing of water tanks and water quality were also discussed. The release added that users were informed about proper disposal of waste and sanitary napkins in designated bins.
