The Karnataka Chapter of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India marked International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Day in the city on Friday, highlighting advances in patient care and academic collaboration.

Speaking on the occasion, B. C. Bhagavan, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, said specialists in the field play an important role in treating facial trauma, cancer, and complex reconstructive conditions. He stressed the need for innovation, research and interdisciplinary work.

KAOMSI president Venkatesh Anehosur said the specialty had expanded significantly in Karnataka and reaffirmed the association’s thrust on training and professional development.

An academic session focused on the role of specialists in trauma care, oncology, implantology, and facial aesthetics. Faculty and postgraduate students from across the State participated.

The association felicitated its cricket team for securing a bronze medal at a recent tournament.
