The Cyberabad Police launched Operation Smile–XII, a month-long drive aimed at tracing missing children and rescuing vulnerable minors across the commissionerate.

The initiative, launched on January 1, will continue till January 30. Addressing officials, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women and Children Safety Wing, Srujana Karnam said that the operation is focused on identifying missing children and rescuing minors found engaged in begging, rag picking, child labour and human trafficking and ensuring rehabilitation and reintegration of children through coordinated efforts with various government departments and voluntary organisations.

As part of Operation Smile–XII, 12 special teams have been constituted, each led by a sub-inspector and supported by four police constables, including one woman constable. These teams will conduct systematic field operations in identified vulnerable locations across the Cyberabad Commissionerate.

The police will also use facial recognition technology through the Darpan mobile application to trace missing children and reunite them with their families, the DCP said.

Among those present were W&CSW ACP S. Krishna Prasad, members of the Child Welfare Committees from Ranga Reddy, Medchal and Sangareddy districts; representatives from Bala Raksha Bhavan and the Association for Voluntary Action, officials from the labour and health departments, district child protection officers, and members of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, along with other officials.
