HYDERABAD

The Women’s Safety Wing of the Telangana Police has announced the launch of a One Minute Film Festival on Women’s Safety and Child Protection, an initiative aimed at engaging young people in conversations around crimes against women and children and the need for social change. The initiative is being organised in collaboration with UNICEF and Annapurna College of Film and Media.

According to the Women’s Safety Wing, the platform is open to participants between 18 and 35, who can submit films in English, Hindi or Telugu. The films are expected to address safety concerns in homes, schools, work places, public spaces and online platforms. The use of Artificial Intelligence tools for generating films has been prohibited.

Officials said mass communication colleges across Telangana are being approached to encourage student participation. The aim, they added, is to use creative storytelling to spark dialogue, promote accountability and discourage behaviours such as groping, flashing, voyeurism and online abuse. The awards’ ceremony for the One Minute Film Festival is scheduled to be held on March 9.
