The police on March 20, 2026 (Friday) arrested a man on charge of erecting cutouts of four AIADMK leaders in Pollachi and garlanding them with footwear. S. Senthilkumar (54) alias Kuttappan, a resident of Ramnagar layout, behind Goods Shed in Pollachi, was arrested. The police said that he is an autorickshaw driver and a supporter of the DMK. The police said that the cutouts of former AIADMK Ministers M.R. Vijayabhaskar, ‘Dindigul’ C. Srinivasan and C.Ve. Shanmugam and Coimbatore north MLA Amman K. Arjunan, garlanded with footwear, appeared on the poles of traffic signals in Pollachi town on Thursday morning. The cutouts were removed and the Pollachi town police launched an investigation, after registering a case under Sections 192, 196(i)(b), 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 3 of Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act. A senior police officer said six persons placed the cutouts on traffic poles on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. “We are on the lookout for five more persons involved in the act,” said the officer. The arrested accused told the police that they placed the cutouts of the AIADMK leaders to condemn their derogatory remarks against women during the State-wide protest by NDA against the DMK government on Tuesday.
