Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has directed officials to fast-track the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar and Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the State.

Reviewing the progress of schemes during a teleconference with the DISCOM CMDs and senior officials on Friday, he stressed the need to meet the energy targets while strengthening the infrastructure to ensure reliable and efficient power supply.

The timely execution of these schemes is critical to improving service delivery and meeting the growing demand for electricity, he said.

A major focus of the review was the rollout of free solar power connections for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households under the PM Surya Ghar initiative.

Mr. Ravi Kumar set a target of completing at least 2,000 solar connections in each constituency within a timeframe, urging officials to adopt a mission-mode approach to achieve the goal.

Referring to the agriculture sector, Mr. Ravi Kumar instructed officials to clear all pending electricity connections before the onset of the cropping season.

Emphasising that an uninterrupted and quality power supply is essential for farmers, he directed that infrastructure gaps be addressed as a priority to avoid disruptions during peak agricultural activity.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to public welfare, the Minister said the government would ensure that citizens are not financially strained. He instructed the field-level engineers and staff to work in coordination.

The government is committed to strengthening the power sector, expanding renewable energy adoption, and providing reliable electricity to all sections of society, he added.
