Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PR&RD) Commissioner Krishna Teja on Saturday (February 07, 2026) called upon government officials to work collectively with a “family spirit” to ensure quality service delivery to the public. He was addressing a regional review meeting attended by officials from Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Polavaram districts at the VMRDA Children’s Arena here. He emphasised that every employee should align with the vision of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who is dedicated to the welfare of the department’s staff. The Commissioner highlighted that 77 officials were promoted as CEOs and over 10,000 employees received promotions recently. He noted the significant shift in designations—Panchayat Secretaries are now regarded as Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) and EOPRDs hold the status of Deputy MPDOs. A strict deadline of February 15 has been set to complete 100% collection of all property taxes, he said, adding that officials must focus on strengthening internal revenue sources. The Commissioner directed staff to expedite the uploading of bills for rural development works online without delay. He ordered that pending works be completed on a war footing within the current financial year. While promising encouragement for hard-working staff, Mr. Krishna Teja gently warned that disciplinary action would be taken against those showing negligence or laxity in their duties. During the session, the Commissioner personally applauded and presented certificates of appreciation to officials and Panchayat Secretaries who demonstrated exceptional performance in property tax collection and achieving rural development targets. The meeting was attended by ZP CEO P. Narayana Murthy, Deputy CEO Raj Kumar, Visakhapatnam DPO Srinivasa Rao, Alluri District DPO Chandrasekhar, along with several MPDOs, Engineering officials, and Panchayat Secretaries.
