Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has instructed officials to prepare plans for development of all major temples situated on the banks of Godavari river before the Godavari pushkaralu, a major festival celebrated once every 12 years, slated next year. Comprehensive plan should be prepared to provide hassle free road connectivity to all pushkaram sites before the onset of the pushkaralu, to be held between June 26 and July 7 next year. The Minister was speaking at the meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee headed by Minister D. Sridhar Babu to review the arrangements being made for the pushkaralu here on Tuesday. Mr. Srinivas Reddy wanted a comprehensive master plan to be prepared for the development of areas abutting the major highways connecting the pushkaram sites. Proposals should accordingly be prepared keeping in view the financial requirements for developing these places. Along with Basar, Bhadrachalam and Hanuman temple at Kondagattu, officials should focus on other major temples while planning connectivity related aspects. Steps should be taken to ensure that connectivity was established to major temples as part of their development works. Since the master plan for Basar was already prepared, officials should take steps to develop similar plan for Bhadrachalam and take approval from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for its development.
