Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhuvanesh Patil during a visit to the control room in Dharwad on Tuesday where webcasting facility has been set up. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Bhuvanesh Patil paid a surprise visit to several examination centres in Dharwad district on Tuesday. After reviewing the arrangements at the centres he spoke to media persons and said that to ensure transparency and discipline during examinations a webcasting facility has been set up at the Zilla Panchayat office, along with a control room, to monitor activities in all 43 examination centres in the district. “All centres are being closely monitored from the control room to ensure smooth conduct of the examination,” he said. He stated that examinations are going on in a peaceful and well-organised manner without any confusion. Meanwhile, students informed the officials that adequate arrangements have been made to enable them to write the examinations confidently and without fear. The CEO interacted with examination officers and staff at various centres and reviewed adherence to guidelines issued by the Pre-University Education Board. He instructed officials to take precautionary measures to prevent any malpractice during the examinations. He reviewed the CCTV control rooms set up in colleges and gathered information about the monitoring arrangements. He instructed the vigilance team and college staff to ensure strict confidentiality of question papers, prevent malpractice and take all necessary security measures to maintain the integrity of the examination process. Subsequently, Mr. Patil also made phone calls to certain examination centres from the webcasting control room to gather feedback regarding arrangements and student response. Deputy Director of the Department of Pre-University Education Tejaswini Narayanakar was present during the inspection. According to a release from the Department of School Education (Pre-University), a total of 25,215 students registered for the II PU English examination on Tuesday. Of them, 24,784 students appeared, while 431 remained absent, recording an overall attendance of 98.29%.
