A team of Puttur rural police went to Odisha recently and arrested Deepak Patra, 37, on the charge of supplying cannabis to peddlers operating in Dakshina Kannada. The police seized 1.788 kg of cannabis, worth ₹ 80,000 from him. In a press note, the police said two persons were arrested and over 100 kg of cannabis, worth ₹ 53.03 lakh, was seized from them on January 19. On further investigation, the police arrested D.K. Mohammed Fayaz, 27, of Charmadi village in Belthangady taluk and Nazir, 42, of Kakkinje, also in Belthangady taluk, for providing money and vehicle to the two persons arrested on January 19. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar went to Odisha and arrested Patra, who had supplied cannabis to the persons arrested on January 19, the police said.
