The Kerala government has appointed a special prosecutor for handling the appeal in the sexual abuse case against Bishop Franco Mulakkal. The State government on Friday appointed B.G. Harindranath, a former Law Secretary, as special prosecutor. The decision comes in the wake of the survivor, a nun, seeking a special public prosecutor for handling the appeal proceedings before the High Court. The case was registered in the Kuravilangad police station. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has issued directions to appoint Mr. Harindranath as the special prosecutor. The notification on his appointment will be issued shortly, the Chief Minister’s office said on Friday.
