The Delhi Traffic Police and Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) have introduced a dedicated Digital Lok Adalat portal to facilitate faster and more convenient settlement of traffic challans. The newly developed portal provides access to traffic challan data and updates the data of disposed challans in real time. Citizens will receive SMS notifications regarding the disposal status of their challans. The portal is also being integrated with the virtual court system so that the updates made in the Digital Lok Adalat portal would automatically reflect across other platforms. Simplifying process “The system will simplify court processes, as challan or notice details will automatically appear in the application, minimising manual data entry errors and significantly reducing waiting time for citizens,” said DCP (Traffic) S.K. Singh. “The initiative aims to reduce backlog of pending traffic challans, provides quicker settlement to vehicle owners, minimises manual processing and clerical errors and ensures transparency and efficiency in Lok Adalat proceedings,” he added. The digital system is currently being used in the Special Lok Adalat proceedings. In the current Lok Adalat, a total of 1,92,444 challans and notices have been downloaded for settlement. The disposal of these challans and notices has been carried out simultaneously and SMS notifications regarding the disposal status have been sent to the vehicle owner’s mobile number. The disposal status of 1,25,678 challans and notices have been updated on the server.
