Non-resident voters and VIPs can complete the verification process for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by submitting documents and without having to appear for the hearing in person, Chief Electoral Officer Rathan U. Kelkar has said. In a statement here on Thursday (January 8, 2026), Mr. Kelkar said the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs)/Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) reserve the right to complete the process immediately if they are satisfied with the documents submitted by the VIP/Non-resident voters. He informed that the system has been operationalised in ERONET to complete the verification of Pravasi/VIP voters and include them in the electoral roll if they submit the respective documents on the dates required to appear before the EROs/AEROs after receiving the notice for the hearing (if the documents are satisfactory).
