Communist Party of India national secretary K. Ramakrishna on Tuesday alleged that no State in the country has privatised government medical colleges, but the State government has chosen to involve private stakeholders under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy. Addressing a joint press conference on the sidelines of the CPI State-level party meeting, Mr. Ramakrishna demanded that the government develop all necessary infrastructure in the newly sanctioned medical colleges on its own, without handing over responsibilities to private partners. CPI State secretary G. Eswarayya urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to revive discussions with the neighbouring Odisha government on the long-pending irrigation projects to safeguard the interests of farmers in the border districts.
