NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy, aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration in applied research and technology development. According to a press note, the Centre for Applied Research and Development (CARD), the in-house R&D centre of NLCIL, had floated an Expression of Interest inviting research proposals from premier academic institutions. The initiative received an encouraging response, resulting in the signing of 13 MoAs with leading institutions, including IISc, IITs and State Universities. The MoA with NIT Trichy is for development of new material for bucket wheel teeth and its improvement. The research project would cost ₹50.73 lakh and aims to develop advanced materials with enhanced wear resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness for bucket wheel teeth. The project is expected to significantly enhance service life, reduce downtime, and optimise operational costs, NLCIL said.
