Subrahmanyam handed over a blueprint of the Accelerating Sustainable State Energy Transition Program (ASSET) to Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) Government Chief Secretary and Special CS (Energy) K. Vijayanand on Thursday (February 5, 2026). The NITI Aayog, according to an official release, laid out a clear roadmap for developing Andhra Pradesh into one of India’s top three renewable energy hubs with focus on delivering reliable and affordable clean energy to all consumers. It was mentioned in the ASSET plan that 47% of the State’s total power generation capacity is contributed by renewable sources. The plan outlined the development of 35 GW solar, 12 GW wind and 55-60 GWh of energy storage capacity to meet domestic needs by 2035. Additionally, 30 GW solar, 25-30 GW wind and 10-12 GW of pumped storage projects have been proposed for exports. The press release said the NITI Aayog estimated that by 2035, the power purchase cost is likely to come down to ₹3.90 to 4% and the ASSET requires an investment of nearly ₹3.40 lakh crore. The blueprint would be finalised in March 2026 and submitted to the Central Steering Committee of the NITI Aayog for taking the programme forward.
