Holi festivities at Sri Vyasa Avasam, home for the less privileged, took on a greener, more responsible hue this year as Sulakshya Seva Samithi, an NGO, celebrated the festival with children from disadvantaged homes on Tuesday, highlighting the importance of eco-friendly practices.

In keeping with their commitment to sustainable celebrations, the NGO used only natural, chemical-free colours, ensuring that the event was both joyful and safe for the children as well as the environment. Volunteers said the initiative was aimed at promoting a culture of responsible festivities, especially among the younger generation.

“Holi is usually celebrated with our families and friends but spending it with these children gives the festival real meaning,” said Santhosh Manduva, founder and president of Sulakshya Seva Samithi. “For 15 years, we have celebrated with them and with natural colours. Their excitement begins early in the morning as they wait at the gate. The smiles that greet us when we arrive with are truly priceless,” he added.
