The Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department has appointed S. Muthiah, the current Controller of Examinations in-charge of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), as the Registrar in-charge on Monday. He replaces the incumbent Registrar in-charge, M. Ramakrishnan. Sources indicated that the move followed protests by MKU lecturers against Mr. Ramakrishnan, whom they accused of allegedly delaying several administrative processes, specifically the granting of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) benefits to university teachers. As Mr. Muthiah holds the rank of Senior Deputy Registrar, he will now perform the duties of the Registrar in addition to his existing responsibilities as the Controller of Examinations in-charge.
