The State Cabinet has decided to construct a new headquarters for the Kerala Media Academy at Kakkanad at an investment of ₹31.56 crore, which will be funded by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). T.V. Subhash, Special Secretary, Information and Public Relations department, has issued an order based on the Cabinet decision. The building will have two basements, a ground floor, two upper floors, and a terrace. The five-storey structure will have a total area of 90,610 sq.ft. The design has been prepared by Habitat Group. The 46-year-old Kerala Media Academy remains a national-level institution for media studies and research functioning under the State government. The academy will lose its existing building and 75 cents out of its 3.20-acre campus for the second phase of the Kochi metro.
