Nellore Collector celebrates New Year at orphanage

In a heart-warming gesture, SPSR Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla celebrated New Year with orphans at Vatsalya Dodla Varada Reddy Welfare Foundation at R. K. Nagar here on Thursday evening. He cut a cake with the children of the orphanage and ate it with them. The children recited the verses of the Bhagavad Gita melodiously and few girls performed dance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that he was happy to celebrate New Year among these children and spending time with them. He appreciated the management for running the orphanage for more than three decades with the contribution of donors alone, without expecting any support from the government, and providing value-based education to the children.

He further said that such organisations are great assets to society. Later, he distributed dictionaries, notebooks and other educational material to the children. He advised the students to study well and reach high positions. He shared his plans to give books and other educational kits to the students studying in all welfare hostels in the district soon.
