Expressing the need for more number of socially responsive engineers and lawyers for furthering development of the country, Governor Thaawarchad Gehlot here on Friday lauded St. Aloysius institution for widening its service in the education sector by opening separate institutes for engineering and law.

Formally inaugurating the St. Aloysius Deemed to be University’s School of Engineering and School of Law in Mangaluru, the Governor said there is need of more socially committed engineers, who are ingrained with human values, for furthering growth of the nation. “The young lawyers should protect human rights, inculcate Constitutional values and be committed to social justice. There is great hope from St. Aloysius that those passing out these two new institutions will have these qualities,” he said.

MP Brijesh Chowta called upon St. Aloysius and other educational institutions of the region to show the capacity of Dakshina Kannada youth. “We should build locally and sell globally,” he said and asked institutions to focus more on research and innovation.

Pro-Chancellor of St. Aloyisus Deemed to be University Melwin J. Pinto and Vice Chancellor Praveen Martis, also spoke. The Governor spent some time at the old St. Aloysius Chapel, before leaving the venue.
