Of the total area of 1,052 acres at the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) park at Virudhunagar that was inaugurated in 2023, 190.44 acres were allotted to 23 investors on February 27. This would bring in ₹2,192.21 crore investment and was likely to generate close to 15,000 jobs, said an official press release from the Union Ministry of Textiles. The industries that would come up would produce yarn, fabric, garments, and technical textiles. There would also be integrated plants, textile processing, and finishing units.
