New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) vice-chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a pilot project to provide 24×7 clean water supply to 550 households close to Vinay Marg in Chanakyapuri. Mr. Chahal said the project has been approved at a cost of ₹1.38 crore and is expected to be completed within five months. He added that the NDMC has also initiated the process of appointing a consultant to prepare a comprehensive plan for ensuring round-the-clock supply across its jurisdiction. The process is expected to be concluded within a month, after which a detailed report will be prepared to guide future planning. “The primary objectives of the pilot project are to reduce non-revenue water, implement end-to-end automation of the water supply system, and ensure uninterrupted 24×7 water supply in the project area,” said Mr. Chahal.
