Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday alleged the ruling DMK has ruined the State by failing to control the proliferation of drugs and alcoholism. He also accused the DMK of using minorities only for vote bank politics.

Speaking with other leaders of NDA at the ‘Iftar’ event organised by the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) at Egmore in Chennai, he said the ruling DMK had done nothing for the welfare of Muslims. He reiterated his demand for conducting a caste-based survey immediately, and said the parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would stand with Muslims for their welfare.

TMC(M) president G.K. Vasan said minorities have been playing an important role in the development of India. Listing out measures taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre for their welfare, Mr. Vasan appealed to minorities to extend support to the NDA.

BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran said the notion that his party was against a particular religion was false. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision remains “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” and the Centre was focused on the holistic welfare of all.

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran said the parties in the NDA would never sacrifice the interests of the people of Tamil Nadu, and would work together for the welfare of the State.

Former AIADMK Minister D. Jayakumar recalled that it was the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa-led government which announced that the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Millath would be celebrated as an official event. He said the AIADMK government had undertaken several measures for the welfare of Muslims.

Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, BJP national in-charge for Tamil Nadu Arvind Menon, Tamil Maanila Muslim League leader Sheik Dawood, and leaders of various parties in the NDA were present.
