BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav said farmers practising natural and organic farming were setting an example for future generations in protecting nature despite facing financial hardships and a lack of remunerative prices.

He observed that the excessive use of chemical pesticides was harming both human health and soil fertility, and moving towards natural farming was essential to make India self-reliant and achieve the Viksit Bharat vision.

Participating as the chief guest in a conference of natural farmers organised by the BJP Kisan Morcha (BKM) here on Saturday (January 3), Mr. Madhav highlighted several initiatives taken by the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, including the promotion of zero-budget natural farming, allocation of ₹20,000 crore in the budget for various agriculture sector schemes, encouragement of cow-based farming, provision of crop insurance and steps taken to guarantee remunerative prices to the farmers.

He recalled that natural farming was earlier promoted in Andhra Pradesh as well and said both the Centre and the State were now committed to strengthening it.

BKM State president Ch. Kumaraswamy said the conference was organised to understand farmers’ ground-level problems and explore ways to make agriculture profitable, and noted that rising cultivation costs, exploitation by middlemen and inadequate returns were pushing farmers into distress.
