The hospital in Mysuru has been delivering cancer care for the last decade with the support of advanced radiation therapy services, including LINAC-based treatment. The latest upgrade strengthens treatment accuracy, safety, and efficiency, it said. The next-gen LINAC system was launched in the presence of Devi Shetty, founder and chairman, Narayana Health, and Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham. “Cancer continues to emerge as a major public health challenge in India, underscoring the urgent need to expand access to advanced diagnosis and treatment beyond metropolitan centres. Estimates from the ICMR indicate that nearly 1 in 9 Indians faces a lifetime risk of developing cancer, with incidence projected to rise significantly in the coming decades. In Karnataka alone, an estimated 89,125 new cancer cases are diagnosed each year, with nearly 2.5 lakh people currently living with the disease,” the hospital said in a release. Dr. Shetty said, “With cancer incidence rising steadily across India, the challenge before us is not only advancing treatment capabilities but ensuring that these advances reach every patient who needs them.” The hospital’s new facilities further reduce the need for patients from neighbouring districts such as Mandya, Madikeri, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, and Ramanagaram to travel long distances for advanced radiation therapy, the release added. Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji highlighted the importance of a healthy lifestyle, practising pranayama and meditation, engaging in regular exercise, maintaining proper sleep-wake cycles, and leading a stress-free life.
