The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday directed the State to get instructions after an advocate made a mention before the court to initiate suo motu proceedings with regard to the Nanguneri incident in Thoothukudi district. Two persons, a migrant labourer D. Trinath Kata from Odisha and John, a differently abled person belonging to a Scheduled Caste, were murdered by an armed gang in an unprovoked attack on passers-by on March 2. The Nanguneri police have arrested seven persons, including four teenagers. Advocate Aayiram K. Selvakumar made a mention before the Division Bench of Justices N. Sathish Kumar and M. Jothiraman. The judges directed the State to get instructions.
