I do not think the names of any voters have been deleted from the voter lists in Belagavi district as part of the Election Commission of India’s Systematic Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi said in Belagavi on Friday.

Officers on election duty said that they had not got any such directions till now, he said.

“We are getting feedback on the exercise. The officials said that this exercise would go on till 2028. We have instructed the officials to see that no eligible voter is left out of the lists. Booth Level officers (BLOs) have completed around 70% of mapping of names till now. They are going door-to-door to confirm the names of voters who had casted their votes in the last elections,” he said.

We are sure that the BLOs and other officers would not let voters suffer injustice, the Minister told reporters. He was speaking after a meeting of officers at the Belagavi Urban Development Authority office.

To a query, Mr. Jarkiholi said that he had received a memorandum from the Hakki Pikki tribal youth association about some of the migrant tribal communities not getting voting rights in Belagavi district.

I have directed Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan to see that all the eligible members of the tribal communities are included in the electoral rolls, Mr. Jarkiholi said.
