The Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education, Mangaluru, has chosen seven persons and an institution for its Sandesha Awards for 2026.

Announcing the awards at a press conference here on Friday, director Sudeep Paul said that the awards will be presented on January 21 at 5.30 p.m. at the Sandesha institute’s grounds.

Those who have been selected for the awards are Na. Mogasale (Kannada literature); Patrick K. Moras (Konkani literature); Indira Hegde (Tulu literature); S.G. Tungarenuka (media); Simon Pais (Konkani music); Srinivas G. Kappanna (art); Dattatreya Aralikatte (education), and Navajeevan Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled, Ballari (special recognition).

Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Ballari and chairman of the Institute, Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, director, actor, screenplay writer and lyricist, will participate as the chief guest. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru, will be among those who will attend.

Sandesha has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, enabling the institution to offer certificate and diploma programmes, thereby expanding its educational outreach, he said.
