The Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) is planning to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the construction of a stadium on the KSIC filature factory premises in T. Narsipura.

Addressing a press conference here on February 24, MGP founder-president Bhamy Shenoy said a PIL will be filed in the High Court if the government does not drop its proposal to construct the stadium on the factory premises, which also houses a large number of trees that are several years old.

Senior advocate S. Arun Kumar, said a representation will be made to Mysuru district in-charge Minister H.C. Mahadevappa to drop the move to construct a stadium there.

“We will also try to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is scheduled to visit Mysuru on February 25, and prevail upon him to drop the plan,” he added.

After exhausting both the options of approaching Mr. Mahadevappa and Mr. Siddaramaiah, the MGP will file a PIL in the High Court, he said.

MGP working president S.K. Dinesh said they are not against the construction of a stadium but are opposed to it coming up on the KSIC filature factory premises. “Let them construct a stadium elsewhere,” he stated.
